Mediapool reports that Russian drone and missile strikes hit the Sumy, Donetsk and Kharkiv oblasts, killing at least ten people. In Sumy alone, three people died after a drone struck what local officials described as a civilian object. The victims were identified as drivers working for a private Ukrainian postal company. Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy regional military administration, confirmed the strike and a resulting fire. Casualty figures from Donetsk and Kharkiv brought the overall toll to at least ten, with the number potentially rising as emergency operations continue.
Ukraine strikes St. Petersburg
On July 24, Ukrainian drones reached St. Petersburg and sparked a large fire at a warehouse complex on Moskovskoye Shosse. Dariknews, citing Agence France-Presse and TASS, reports that the city's governor, Alexander Beglov, acknowledged the attack on social media, saying drones were used for military purposes against civilian infrastructure objects and that authorities were working to manage the consequences.
Images circulating on social media and picked up by AFP pointed to warehouses belonging to Wildberries, Russia's largest online retailer, as the target. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has claimed that Wildberries facilities are used to store and deliver components for military equipment production. Russia denies the claim. The St. Petersburg strike followed an attack on a Wildberries site in Kotovsk, Tambov region, earlier in the week, in which eight workers were killed, according to Dariknews.
