Bulgaria's first Eurovision winner has weighed in on which city should host the 2027 contest. The answer, according to DARA, is Sofia.

Dara makes her pick
Darina Yotova, the artist who performs as DARA and who won this year's Eurovision Song Contest with her song "Bangaranga," told the fan outlet Wiwibloggs that she favours the capital. Standart reports that she cited Sofia's proximity to Belogradchik's rock formations and the Rila Mountains, both reachable within a few hours by car. She acknowledged Burgas has its own appeal, noting the Black Sea city offers the sea and nearby destinations. Sofia Municipality thanked her publicly for the endorsement.
Two cities left standing
Four Bulgarian cities originally submitted bids: Sofia, Burgas, Varna, and Plovdiv. Dariknews reports that Varna and Plovdiv were eliminated after the first round of evaluation, which assessed venue technical specifications and compliance with European Broadcasting Union production standards. An international working group is now tasked with making the final call between Sofia and Burgas.
